Often I am asked what are my favorite places to eat when at Disney World. Let me tell you, we plan our trips around the food. These are my top three counter service restaurants at Magic Kingdom.
What is a “counter service” restaurant?
Counter Service restaurants are also known as “quick service” in Disney terms. This is how they are referred to if you are on the Disney dining plan. It simply means you place your order at a counter and wait for your food. Then you take it to a table of your choice. Think Wendy’s, Moe’s or 5 Guys.
Here are my top 3:
1. Casey’s Corner –
Hot Dogs, Hot Dogs and Hot Dogs (and some corn dog nuggets). This is the place to get your hot dogs. Have it the traditional way or topped with ground beef, mac and cheese, salsa, parmesan cheese, chili or cheddar. This is the place to build your favorite hot dog. My favorite is a simple dog topped with cheddar cheese. Round out your meal with apple slices, french fries or Mac and Cheese. Did you guys know that hot dogs are my favorite food? Casey’s is just at the castle end of main street. Grab a dog on your way in and out – That’s what I do.
Next up is Columbia Harbor House. A welcomed departure from the usual burgers and dogs. Tucked away in Liberty Square this little gem serves dishes from land and sea. Find soups and salads here along with fried fish, salmon, chicken pot pie, lobster roll and the popular chicken nuggets. Boston creme pie and peach cobbler round out the menu to tempt your sweet tooth.
3. Pecos Bills –
You will find this watering hole in Frontierland. It may sound a little “Wild West” but is the perfect place to grab a bite. Think American meets the Southwest. You can have a burger and fries or choose from tacos, nachos and fajitas. Don’t miss the side of Queso or Guac and snag a Churro for dessert. This is a fairly large place. We always find it to be a perfect spot for little ones who need a midday rest. You can grab a bite and find a nice quite (and cool) corner and just let the kids rest in their stroller.
*** Be Our Guest is a counter service location for lunch, however it requires a reservation. As a result, I did not consider it for this post.
Ready to plan your amazing Disney vacation, but not sure yet where to start.
